AMilitary Academy of Defence Sports
The Military Academy of Defence Sports – AMSD (formerly known as the CNSD), located in Fontainebleau, continues the legacy of the Joinville Battalion and serves as the French Ministry for the Armed Forces’ centre of excellence for elite sport.
It is home to 148 athletes, including 26 athletes with disabilities, competing in 32 Olympic and Paralympic disciplines as part of the “Army of Champions”.
Set across a 45-hectare site, the Academy offers sports, training and accommodation facilities designed to meet the specific requirements of elite athletes.
Since early 2025, the site has also been home to the Wounded Service Members’ Village, which welcomes military personnel during their recovery.
